The Power of Belief

I learned a powerful lesson a couple weeks back. To be honest, I should write that I re-learned a powerful lesson as this lesson has aired its power many times in my life. The title of this post gives away this lesson. The power of Belief.

I was playing softball with my team and we found ourselves facing a 10-point deficit as we entered the 5th inning. We had one bad inning that led to the large delta in scores and team morale was down. You could feel the tension amongst the team, as something really cool and powerful seemed to hit the team as we exited the field and came up to bat to start the 5th inning. Despite the deficit, we rallied and scored 11 runs that ultimately led to a win. We never gave up.

I remember leaving the game feeling this overwhelming feeling of joy. I realized this feeling was the result of the belief we held individually and as a team that we could win the game. Believing in our team and ourselves led us to overcome what were hard odds. What a feeling. All I could think about as I drove home that night was how good this felt and how I could feel this way all the time. As I stated in my last post, I have struggled with motivation and drive over these past few weeks, and this feeling was just what I needed to realize that we must believe in ourselves. We must rise above everything and believe that we can do it, that we can live the life we want to live. As Bethenny Frankel stated in her Instagram post, "you are your only limit…make shiz happen." My wife would be very proud and maybe shocked to know I am using a housewives quote, but she is a kick ass businesswomen. Such a great statement, because it is so true, often we are our own obstacle. Not everything else we think is hindering us. It's you.

I hope that through reading my post you find one overarching message, that you can have whatever you want, you just have to focus, push, and work hard to achieve your dreams and believe. It's lessons like this one, which help keep us on the rails and keep pushing us.

Over the past couple weeks; since I received this lesson, I have had my eyes open to so many examples of triumph and perseverance. I just had to have my eyes opened to see that everyone faces struggles and obstacles, but it's your attitude, your belief and drive that gets you past it. Keep your head up.

Draw inspiration from everything.
